Tutoring session on “Academy on main ICT skills for Government Officials” was held

Tutoring session on “Academy on ICT Essentials for Government Officials” was carried out by the Civil Service Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, UNDP and Training Centre on Information and Communication Technologies on Asia and Pacific Region of the UN located in the Republic of Korea (APCICT) on 6-7 February 2012. The session was aimed at capacity building of top level civil servants in the field of ICT applications and e-government in civil service and training of these civil servants those who will represent as trainers on ICT.

Dr. Ahmet Sanic, Rector of the “Gafgaz” University, Bahram Khalilov, Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Fikret Akchura, Country Director of the UNDP in Azerbaijan, Elmir Valizadeh, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies, Gulu Novruzov, Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Hyeun-Suk Rhee, director of the APCICT participated in the Briefing Session.

After video demonstration about APCICT’s activity, participants of the seminar were briefed on 10 training modules of the Academy. These modules cover the following topics:

  • Module1 – The Linkage between ICT Applications and Meaningful Development
  • Module 2 – ICT for Development Policy, Process and Governance (presented by Dr. Usha Reddi, Former Professor and Director, Centre for Human Development, Administrative Staff College of India)
  • Module 3 – E-Government Applications (presented by Etibar Umudov, senior consultant of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies)
  • Module 4 – ICT Trends for Government Leaders Module (presented by Fuad Mayilov, Chief Consultant of the Civil Service Commission)
  • Module 5 – Internet Governance (presented by Etibar Umudov, senior consultant of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies)
  • Module 6 – Information Security and Privacy (presented by Mirnatik Alasgar-zada, Leading Consultant of the Civil Service Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan)
  • Module 7 – ICT Project Management in Theory and Practice (presented by Vusal Hamidov, Head of Sector, Civil Service Commission)
  • Module 8 – Options for Funding ICT for Development (presented by Jahandar Gadirov, Leading Consultant of Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies)
  • Module 9 – ICT for Disaster Risk Management
  • Module 10 – ICT for climate change, green growth and sustainable development (presented by Tofig Babayev, Head of Department of Disaster and risk prognosis of the Institute of Cybernetics).

Dr. Usha Reddi delivered training session on Module 1 on 6-7 February.
