A memorial ceremony for the victims of Xocali Massacre was held on its seventeenth anniversary at Qafqaz University. The University rector Ahmet Sanic brought it to the audience’s attention that Armenian Armed Forces, with the cooperation of a Russian motorized infantry regiment, invaded the city on the night of 25 February 1992. He said. ”some of the city residents were decapitated, some were burned alive, women and children were killed mercilessly. Azerbaijani people will never forget this barbaric act.” Melahet Hesenova, a member of Parliament, said that the Xocali Massacre was a most horrible and an unprecedented terror act. She added, ”the perpetrators of the Massacre murdered the residents of the city with unheard of barbarity, burned them alive, dug their eyes out. Families were annihilated completely and those taken captive were tortured brutally.
